Virginia A. (Gemmel) Wenzel, 84, of Medway, died Monday, June 17, 2013 at Countryside Health Care in Milford. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph H. Wenzel who died in 1989.
Born in Boston on July 26, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Andrew L. and Anna A. (Collins) Gemmel.
Mrs. Wenzel grew up in West Roxbury and graduated from Roslindale High School. She later resided in Dedham until moving to Medway in 1960.
Mrs. Wenzel was a homemaker for most of her life.
She is survived by six children, Pamela Badger and her husband Peter of Medway, Suzanne Grillo and her husband Joseph of Medway, Mark Wenzel and his wife Elizabeth (Gittens) of Millis, Lisa McDonald and her husband James of Franklin, Walter Wenzel and his wife Brenda (Remmes) of Medway and Paul Wenzel and his wife Caroline (Murphy) of Holliston.
She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Christopher Badger, Michael and Julianne Grillo, Matthew, Jonathan and Sarah Wenzel, Joseph, Margaret and Daniel McDonald, Jeffrey and Megan Wenzel and Cameron and Carly Wenzel.
She was the sister of the late Madeline Maffeo and Paul Gemmel.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday, June 22 at 9:15 a.m. from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church in Medway at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 - 7 p.m.
