John F. Barranco, 96 of Medford died Sunday after a brief illness in the Chelsea Soldiers Home, Chelsea, MA.
Born in East Boston, he lived in Medford for many years and was the son of the late Grace (Mattaliano) and Joseph Barranco. Joseph was a Clerk at the South Postal Annex in Boston for 17 years and retired in 1980. He served during World War II in the U.S. Army as a Corporal from 1941 to 1945. Late member of the Medford VFW Post 1012.
Beloved husband of the late Jean (Czopor) Barranco. Devoted father of John Barranco and his wife Linda of Melrose and the late Joseph Barranco. Loving grandfather of Tara Hemmingway, Joseph, Mark, John, Carla and Alexander Barranco. Also survived by 6 loving great grandchildren. Brother of the late Josephine DeMarco.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Thursday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8.
Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
