Obituary

Worcester – Israel “Izzy” Gonzalez Jr., 42, of Worcester died on Friday, June 14th.

Izzy is survived by his mother, Maria Castro of Worcester; 3 brothers, Miguel and Armando both of Worcester and Henry Gonzalez of South Grafton; 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

Mr. Gonzalez was born in Paterson, NJ son of the late Israel Gonzalez and is a graduate of North High School in Worcester.

Izzy has worked for Worcester State University for the past 11 years as a Campus Police Officer. He was a licensed Boxing Trainer by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and volunteered his time as a coach and trainer for kids at Camp Get Right as a boxing instructor. He also enjoyed fishing.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, June 20th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Cathedral of Saint Paul 15 Chatham St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, June 19th from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Izzy may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester 65 Tainter Street Worcester, MA 01610.
