Richard G. Holtkamp, 80, of New Bedford died June 15, 2013 at The Oaks Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Lenora (Furey) Holtkamp.
Born in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late George B. and Ursula (Filippine) Holtkamp, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Holtkamp was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in New Bedford.
He was formerly employed by Revere Copper and Brass, Chamberlain Manufacturing and as a commercial fisherman for many years.
Mr. Holtkamp was a board member of the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC). He was also a member of the Paskamansett Beagle Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Survivors include his son, Richard Holtkamp, Jr. of Miami Beach, FL; 2 daughters, Mary Ellen Holtkamp of New Bedford and Jennifer Normandeau and her husband Matthew of Fairhaven; a daughter-in-law, Dianne Holtkamp of Fairhaven; 2 sisters, Marian Desrosiers and Georgia Stewart, both of St. Louis, MO; many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late David Holtkamp, Ann Margaret Holtkamp and Christopher Holtkamp and the brother of the late Louis Holtkamp.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 25th at 9 AM in St. Mary's Church, New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
