Obituary

Louis J. “Kuffy” Kfoury passed away on Saturday, June 15 surrounded by his family.
Born on April 2, 1921, son of the late Joseph E. and Azzizy (Samaha) Kfoury, husband of the late Anne (Saba) with whom he had shared 48 years of marriage.

Louis is survived by his four children, Joseph; Judith and her husband, Noel Farah; all of Methuen; Louanne, and her husband Steven Annaldo of Lawrence; and William and his wife Debra of Salem, N.H. He also leaves his grandchildren: Jennifer (Annaldo) Cassista, Steven Annaldo; Samantha, Robert and Jacquelyn Farah; Elizabeth and Christopher Kfoury; and Robert Brooks. His great-grandchildren: Leigha, Kaitlyn, Marcus, Christian, Keith and Austin. He is also survived by his brothers; Kasper and his wife, Joyce of Lawrence; George and his wife, Barbara of Salem, N.H. and his sister Rose and her husband, Michael Sabbagh of Methuen. He leaves many nieces and nephews.

His daughter-in-law, Joanne Kfoury passed away on March 24, 2013.

Louis was born and raised in Lawrence. He was educated at St. Mary’s Grammar School and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1939.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II onboard the USS Westmoreland APA-104 as a Petty Officer Signalman Second Class.

When he returned from duty he attended Boston Trade School. He worked as a draftsman for Raytheon, Itek, and the IRS from where he retired in 1981.

Louis was an active parishioner of St. Joseph’s Melkite Church where he volunteered many hours working Bingo to help raise money to build the rectory and the Plains Community Center. He also volunteered at Lazarus House five days a week up until a few years ago. In 1997 he received the Christ the Servant Award from Lazarus House and in 2011 the Hike for Hope was dedicated in his honor.

He was an avid Red Sox fan who enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, bowling and listening to his music. Anyone who knew Kuffy was sure to know his constant companion and best friend, his loving and devoted brother, Kasper. No matter where Kuffy was, Kas was by his side.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff at Marguerite House, especially Tanya; and the staff at Blaire House for their constant care and loving attention.

Funeral Service Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Melkite Church, Lawrence.

Visiting hours Monday 4-8 p.m.at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence St. METHUEN. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kuffy's memory may be made to the St. Joseph legacy Fund or to the Lazarus House 412 Hampshire St. Lawrence. Interment will conclude services at United Lebanese Cemetery in Andover.
