Obituary

WAYLAND: Kimberly M. “Kim” (Rumsmoke) Kashian, 47, died peacefully and comfortably surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at her Wayland residence following a courageous and dignified battle with breast cancer.
She was born in Syracuse, New York on February 4, 1966 the daughter of Lew Rumsmoke and Jane (Cullen) Rumsmoke both of Constantia, New York.
Besides her parents, Kim is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 18 years, Peter Kashian of Wayland. Beloved and cherished mother of Robert N. Kashian and Alex S. Kashian both of Wayland. Sister of Jackie Campbell and her husband Rolie Hrynack of Constantia, NY. Kim was the niece of Aleita Rumsmoke of Constantia, NY. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Jean (Flynn) Kashian of Wayland; sister-in-law of Janet and Edward Warner of Wayland and Ellen and Barry Jones of Sudbury as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the daughter-in-law of the late Henry C. Kashian who died in March of 2001.
Kim has been a resident of Wayland for the past 18 years and spent her formative years in Constantia, NY and graduated from Red Men (Central Square) High School in Central Square, NY and was involved in theater, orchestra and the marching band. In her earlier years she participated in 4H, the church choir and the Girl Scouts. In 1988, she received her RA/BSN in Nursing from Utica College in NY. While at college, Kim was active for several years in theater including the productions of HAIR and Anything Goes. She served as President of her Senior Class at Utica, was a WPNR radio DJ and the Director of the Programming Committee at college. She was also a U CHI Sorority Member and while attending college worked at the Pioneer Pub.
Upon graduation, Kim pursued various clinical careers in Syracuse and Boston and then transitioned into a non-clinical technology career and served as a manager in the health care industry. She was an active member of the Utica Alumni and in 2010 was awarded the College Service Award from Utica College given to an alumni for service and dedication. Kim was also active in the Sweet Adeline’s and from 2008 until 2012 was a proud and active supporter of the Avon Walk in Boston. She was acknowledged as an elite and distinguished fund raiser and served as the speaker for several years in the opening ceremonies for the Avon Breast Cancer Walk. She was an outgoing and loving person and was devoted to her husband and sons and with them enjoyed many holidays and vacations near and far with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all the lives that she touched in her 47 years.
Visitations will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Family and friends are cordially invited to go directly to Kim’s Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherins Church, 99 Main St (Rte 27), Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Kashian family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, Wayland.

In lieu of flowers, her family desires that memorial gifts in Kim’s memory may be sent to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Development Office, for the Benefit of the Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital Breast Center, 116 Huntington Ave, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02116 and would be greatly appreciated.
