Ida Arneal McCullar Lakey, age 80, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Yalobusha General Nursing Home in Water Valley, MS. She was born August 10, 1932 in Panola County, MS to the late Riley and Minnie Tubbs McCullar. Arneal worked many different jobs throughout her life, but she is best remembered for her career as a bus driver for the Water Valley School District. She loved her church family and was an active and faithful member of First Christian Church of Water Valley where she served in the kitchen, Vacation Bible School and any area where help was needed. Arneal enjoyed cooking, working in her flower and vegetable gardens and spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 4:00 pm in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks, with Bro. David Freeman officiating. Burial will be in the Browning Cemetery in Lafayette County, MS with Philip Dickey, Charles Heath, Jim Caulder, Larry Carr, Jerry Hill, and Donnie Guest serving as pallbearers.
Arneal is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Lakey Womble (Harry) of Water Valley, MS; her grandchildren, Micheal Womble and Ashley Gilley (Kye) all of Water Valley, MS; and two great grandchildren, Tyler Womble and Blaine Gilley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Lakey and her brothers, Ray McCullar and Shirley McCullar.
