Obituary



Mark F. Johnson, age 61, of Brockton, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday June 9, 2013. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Mary E. (Sullivan) and Joseph L. Johnson (ret. Chief BPD). He was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1969 where he played baseball. An avid sports fan, he also enjoyed playing golf, bowling, softball and basketball. Mark had been a member of the Army National Guard for seven years and been employed by Old Colony Elder Services and Bay State/Columbia Gas Company, retiring after 15 years and was a lifetime member of Club National.

Mark was a giving, kind hearted man who was devoted to his family, especially his son Mark. He was known by his friends and family for his deep loyalty and compassion for others. Mark was a true friend in every sense of the word.

He was the father of Mark E. Johnson and his wife Jessica of Raynham; grandfather of Cole Patrick Johnson; brother of Thomas Johnson of Brockton, Maureen Takis of Georgetown, Joseph Johnson of East Bridgewater, Robert Johnson of Seabrook, NH and the late Daniel Johnson. He also leaves his former wife and best friend Maureen (Hegarty) Johnson of Easton and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 am for a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at10:30 am. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
