John S. Oliver, 84, of Anderson, died June 9, 2013 at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born March 15, 1929 in Anderson to John and Ora (Hert) Oliver.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II.
He was Sr. Engineer at Delco Remy 42 years before retiring in 1992.
He was a member of Church of Christ; NRA, Anderson Kennel Club. He loved his dogs. He was a licensed pilot. He loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his brother, Robert C. Oliver of Florida, nieces & nephews, Donald Hoppes of Utah; Larry (Barbara) Hoppes of Bloomington, IN; Brian E. (Marcia) Hoppes of WI; Deanne (Erin Oren) Wessar of Anderson; Kelly (Jeff) Kinder of Florida; Kimberly Oliver of California; several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Evelyn Hoppes, and a brother, Noland Oliver.
Service will be 11:00 A.M. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. William Mathys officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 266 Honor Guard. Visitation will be Thursday, June 13 from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Madison County Humane Society.
