Obituary

Neil M. Johnson, 69, of Duxbury and Harwich Port, died suddenly on June 9th. Neil leaves his beloved wife and best friend Pamela King Johnson, his daughter Heather and husband Ben Sullivan of Wardsboro VT, son William Mayer and wife Devi, daughter Molly and husband Jonathan Cohen, all of Franklin, and two brothers, Glenn and Leon Johnson of North Orange. One of Neil’s joys was days at the beach with his grandchildren: Emma, James, Akira, Hikaru, and Max
Neil was due to retire as Deputy Director, Division of Capital Asset Management for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts after 25 years. An active civic volunteer, he served as Chair of Duxbury School Committee, Board of Health, Public Safety Building Committee, and numerous other town boards. An avid skier, sailor, golfer, and tennis player, he was a member of Stone Horse Yacht Club and past President of Harwich Port Tennis Association. The family engineer, handyman, gardener, and best friend to all his extended family and many friends in Harwich Port, Duxbury, and Vermont, he will be missed on the porch on Friday evenings.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 14th at 11:00 am, Pilgrim Congregational Church, Main Street, Harwich Port, MA. In lieu of flowers, his family asks friends to make a donation in Neil’s memory to a charity of their choice.
