Elizabeth Wildes, 94, of Dartmouth, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. She was the wife of Horace B. Wildes, whom she had been married to for 70 years.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Arthur and Bertha (Doe) Smith, she was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth. Mrs. Wildes was the founder of the St. Luke’s Medical Library at St. Luke’s Hospital and prior to her retirement, worked there as a librarian for 38 years. She was the one of the co-founders of the former Dartmouth Children’s Museum, a member of Allen’s Neck Friends Meeting and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors along with her husband include 3 sons: Frederick W. Wildes and his wife Patricia of Manchester, CT; Peter D. Wildes and his wife Julia of Washougal, WA and Stephen B. Wildes and his wife Donna of Lawrenceville, IL; 5 grandchildren: Jennifer and Matt Payne, Nathan Wildes, David Wildes, Sarah and James Livermore and Daniel Wildes; 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Lisa E. Wildes.
A memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Allen’s Neck Friends Meeting on Horseneck Road in Dartmouth at 11:00 A.M.
Interment will be private.
