Dorothy A. Peters
Co-founder of the former Merrimack Valley Advertiser Newspaper

TEWKSBURY: Dorothy A. (Shields) Peters, age 93, Entered Heaven Friday, June 7, 2013, where her late husband Ralph W. Peters, Sr. was waiting her arrival.
After Ralph's passing in 2005, Dorothy lived with her grandson Stephen Hinckley and his wife Jeanne in Dracut until she moved into the Blaire House of Tewksbury, where she resided the past few years.
Born in Everett on March 16, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Shields and the late Dorothy M. (Henry) Shields.
Dorothy and Ralph married young and celebrated over sixty-six years of marriage.
They moved to Tewksbury in the late 1940's raising five children there before moving to their second home in Alexandria, NH.
Dorothy was a former member of the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, the Tewksbury Congregational Church, and the Bristol Federated Church, where she sang in each choir.
In the 1950's, she and her late husband founded the Merrimack Valley Publishing Company of Tewksbury, which published the former Merrimack Valley Advertiser until 1972.
Dorothy is survived by four children, Nancy Spies and her husband Bob of Oklahoma City, OK, Kim Conant and her husband Richard of Columbia, SC, Janet Garlick of Norman, OK, and Gregory S. Peters of Tewksbury; eleven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Dorothy was the mother of the late Ralph W. "Skip" Peters, Jr. .

Everyone is welcome to attend her memorial service to be held on Saturday, June 15 at 2:30 p.m. in the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Interment to follow at Tewksbury Cemetery.
