Obituary

Fall River – Jean (Anderson) Kennison, 88, of Westport died Sunday, August 8, 2004 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. She was the widow of Lawrence S. Kennison.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late James W. Anderson, Sr. and the late Augusta (Richter) Anderson, and was a resident of Westport since 1970. She was a very active member in the Westport Monthly Meeting (Quakers) where she was a “Recorded Minister” and active with the annual book sale.

Mrs. Kennison received her Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics in 1936 and her Master’s Degree in 1938 from Brooklyn College in New York City, NY. She taught at Woodhull Preparatory School in Queens, NY for almost 20 years. She was a member of the Westport Art Group and the Westport Historical Society.

She is survived by a son: John F. Kennison of New Braintree, MA; 3 daughters: Jane L. Kupin of Princeton, NJ, Hope K. Goldman of Lawrence, MA and Anne K. Parker of Summitt, NJ; a brother: James W. Anderson of Pleasantville, NY; 9 grandchildren; 4 grandchildren; 1 niece; and 1 nephew.

She was the mother of the late Christine E. Kennison.

A memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday, August 21, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at the Westport Friends Meeting, 938 Main Road, Westport.

Interment will be private.
