Paul E. Kehoe, 88, Of Billerica, Mass and formerly of Salem, NH, died on Saturday, June 8 after being a long-term patient at Blaire House of Tewksbury.
Born October 17, 1924 in East Boston, he was the son of Wiliam Sylvester Kehoe and Eleanor Francis Murphy
While he attended Everett High School until 1943, he ended up earning his G.E.D after a Boston University A&P certificates program, long enough to be considered a Boston University alumnus.
While medically denied the chance to enlist, he worked as a civilian for the U.S. Army Signal Corp until forced to stop due to health issues. He meeting his future wife while working as a bus driver for Hudson Bus line. Then he went to work as a cleaner for Northeast Airlines in 1951, which later merged into Delta Airlines. He retired as a lead electrical inspector in 1984, with over thirty years of service with the airlines. He then went to work part time for O'Connor Hardware Store in Billerica for over twenty years.
He was a long-term member of the Wilmington United Method Church. After he retired, he regularly drove clothing donations to a remote mission site in Salem, Maine, as well as did set up for the early service on Sunday with his wife.
He was known for his dry sense of humor, often telling many jokes and coming up with many terrible puns. He had a long time interest in trains and trolleys, as evidence by his being the first second-generation member of the Seashore Trolley museum, a place he spent many happy hours at as a member.
He was the husband of Gladys Harriet Brown, for over 61 years having married her in 1952 at Tenney Methodist Church in Salem, NH.
Beside his wife, he leaves behind his son, Steven Kehoe of Billerica; His daughter Judith Fox and her husband, John, of Derry, NH; his grandson, Gregory P. Fox of Manchester and his wife, Lori, as well as his great-grandchildren: Monica Curtis of Bow, Deven and Damien Fox of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours or funeral service. A memorial service will be scheduled in the future.
The family request in lieu of flowers, all donations in Paul’s name be to the "New England Electric Railway Historical Society’ and should be marked for the “Endowment Fund” , which is tax deductible under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
