Obituary

WORCESTER: Helen (LaPlante) Kelley, 92, passed away on Thursday, June 6 in her home surrounded by her children and family after a lengthy and valiant battle with dementia and cancer.

Her husband of 53 years Edward J. Kelley died in 1997. She leaves a son Dennis P. “Butch” Kelley of Worcester, a daughter Kathryn J. Kelley of Worcester, a sister Pauline Chagnon of Millbury, a brother Roland LaPlante of Auburn, four grandchildren Barbara, Christopher, Nigel & Jason Kelley, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by four sisters Marie Villnave, Cecilia Rhodes, Roseanne Stepanauskas and Agnes Mahan and two brothers Raymond & Leo LaPlante.

Mrs. Kelley was born in Oxford, daughter of Dorila A. and Zelia (Bouley) LaPlante. She worked for the City of Worcester School Department for 23 years retiring in 1985. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert D. Blute, Jr., Dr. Leonard J. Rampello, Dr. Erik Garcia and Kaitlyn C. Crossen, NP, the entire surgical staff at UMass Memorial Hospital including Keith Lamoureux and home health aides Debi Lee, Leanne Hubbard, Regan Kelley and Jane Lippe for all their care and compassion.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, June 11 at 11:00 AM in MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Monday, June 10 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of MA/NH, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Spean Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
