Obituary

Mrs. Rose M. (Desalliers) Gordon, of Taunton, died unexpectedly Friday, June 7 at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Normand F. Gordon. She was born 86 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Rose A. (Nolin) Desalliers. She was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by the former Craven’s Catering Service of Taunton for 25 years. Rose was a member of the Old Colony Historical Society, the Taunton Art Association, the Weir Senior Citizens Club, and was a volunteer at Morton Hospital. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters, Claire and Louise, exercise classes, playing cards, and walking. Rose was an excellent cook and prepared many holiday dinners. What she enjoyed most in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Taunton.
She leaves: 3 sons: David Gordon and his wife, Kathy of Taunton, Brian Gordon and his wife, Gail of Taunton, and Thomas Gordon and his wife, Lisa of Attleboro; 4 daughters: Linda Alger and her husband, Dana of Attleboro, Janet Rebello and her husband, Michael of Taunton, Susan Charest and her husband, Gilles of Taunton, and Jacqueline Andrade and her husband, Skip of Elizabethtown, N.Y.; 2 sisters: Claire J. Perry and Louise Powell, both of Taunton; a sister-in-law: Shirley Desalliers of Taunton; 14 grandchildren: Stephen and Michael Stanley, Charles Rebello, Thomas Gordon, Jr., Sarah Dubovski, Lauren Charest and Luke Charest, Brian Gordon, Jr., Nicholas Gordon, Paula Wallentin, Kyle Gordon, Michaela Gordon, Tess Andrade and Alex Andrade; 6 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Rose was also the mother of the late William J. Gordon of Taunton, and the sister of the late Charles Desalliers of Taunton.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Tuesday, June 11 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Monday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
