Geraldine M. (Gammons) Andrews, age 88, of Bridgewater, died June 6, 2013 following a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Augustus Andrews. Geraldine was born in Hyannis, and raised in Brockton, a daughter of the late William D. and Flora M. (Shearing) Gammons. She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School, class of 1943 and had been a longtime communicant of St. Patrick Church and most recently of St. John’s Church in E. Bridgewater. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality and Co-Chair of the St. Patrick Bingo for many years. She had been employed as a bookkeeper for Conrad Shoe and for fifteen years had worked in the Circulation Department of the Brockton Enterprise, retiring in 1997. Geraldine was a generous woman who was devoted to her family and enjoyed family gatherings. She also enjoyed time spent by the Ocean at White Horse Beach, travel and bingo.
She is survived by her children Jeanne Andrews Downey of Plymouth, Richard A. and John W. of W. Bridgewater, David G. of Quincy, Mary Ann of Wrentham, Christine J. Belcher and Kathleen A. of Bridgewater, Diana R. Wise of West Bridgewater, Paul E. of Lakeville, Carol L. Clifford of West Bridgewater and Donald C. of Ohio; 27 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Geraldine P. Andrews and sister of the late William D., George E. and Ernest F. Gammons and Eleanor F. Nochera
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Sunday 2-6pm. The Funeral Procession will gather at the funeral home Monday at 8am for a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
