Obituary

James Howard Weatherbee, 73 of Bridgewater, died June 5th in the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a sixteen year battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was the beloved husband of Maureen (Johnson) Weatherbee. They were married in 1958 and had no children.

He was born in Weymouth, son of the late Elmer N. and Anne Mae (MacEachern) Weatherbee.

James lived in Abington and Weymouth before moving to Bridgewater. He retired from General Dynamics Quincy Shipbuilding Division as Facilities Administrator, where he had worked for over thirty years. His early retirement allowed him to help care for his ailing mother for many years.

Jim was a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard from 1956 to 1964. He was keenly interested in history, world events and was creative artistically. He enjoyed his shop where he created furniture and wooden wall quilts. He also loved golfing, traveling and reading, until recent years when his health declined. A former board member of High Pond Residents Association, he also had been active in social affairs in the community for many years.

In addition to his wife Maureen, he is survived by his brothers Elmer Joseph Weatherbee of Palm Harbor, Fl. and Paul Henry Weatherbee of Jamaica Plain. He was considered a brother to Maureen’s siblings and spouses. He has many loving nieces, nephews and cousins, who appreciated his wit and knowledge of the proud history of the family.

His memorial service will be held on Sunday June 9th at 5:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to service from 3:00-5:00PM.
