K. P. Poole, 65, of Fitzgerald, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Terry Cole officiating. The interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Poole was born March 13, 1948, in Nashville, Tennessee to the late James and Ina Poole. Being a former resident of Lithia Springs, Georgia, he moved to the community in 1999. He was retired employee of Mack Trucks where he was a warehouseman and pulled parts for shipping around the world. Everyone knew him by his “Dixie” horns he had on his vehicles. He loved playing cards with his grandchildren, yard work, woodcrafts with toothpicks and popsicle sticks and putting puzzles together.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years: Joyce M. Poole of Fitzgerald; daughter: Denise & Thomas Steverson of Irwin County; two grandchildren: Jamie & Jessica Hasty of Fitzgerald and Joy & Mikell Brown of Irwin County; four great-grandchildren: Jailynn Hasty, Daidyn Hasty, Madison Brown and Braden Brown; sister: Kay Swearington and brother: Randy Joe Poole both of Tullahoma, Tennessee; sister-in-law: Delores McDonald of Fitzgerald; caregiver: Ronica Jackson of Baxley and step mother: Linda Bohannon of Tullahoma, Tennessee.
