SWANSEA — Beverly (Therrien) Thomson, age 91 years, died on June 2nd at Country Gardens Nursing Home in Swansea, Ma., where she resided for the last seven years.
She was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and was a teacher in the New Bedford School Department for over 22 years, before retiring in 1984.
She was a graduate of N.B. High School, SMU, and Bridgewater State College where she earned her BS in Education Degree in 1968.
Beverly was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Mass. and Bristol County Teacher's Associations, a volunteer and member of St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary, was active with the Investment Club of the YWCA and the Board of Directors of the Zeiterion Theater.
She enjoyed attending plays, musicals and opera, especially weekend trips to the Met in New York. She also enjoyed traveling and Saturday night Poker games.
Predeceased by her husband Alexander Thomson, her mother and father Bessie Bucklin Therrien and Walter J. Therrien, and her brother Leonard Therrien.
She is survived by her son Keith Thomson and his wife Carole Stevens of Taunton. She was the loving aunt of several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford on Wednesday morning from 10-11 A.M. with a service at 11 A.M., followed by burial in Rural Cemetery.
