Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Raymond T. Gallagher, 91, of Forest Park, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on November 14, 1921, the son of the late John H. and Jennie A. (Thayer) Gallagher. He was raised and schooled in Springfield and was a lifelong resident of the city. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and attained the rank of Seaman First Class. He received the American Theatre Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Following his military service, he returned to Springfield and served the city for over 20 years as a Firefighter, retiring from the Oakland Street Station in 1978. He was a member of the Forest Park Bowling League and a communicant of Holy Name Church in Springfield. He leaves his beloved wife of over 63 years, Annette R. (Langlois) Gallagher; his loving children, Holly A. Albertson and her husband, Charles, of Westfield and Thomas R. Gallagher and his wife, Valerie, of Methuen, MA; and his three cherished grandchildren, Dean Albertson and his fiancée, Ashleigh Mulville, Lee Albertson and Rachel Gallagher. His relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, June 6, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
