Obituary

Gayle Harrington, 61, passed away in Brockton, Mass. on Saturday, May 11, 2013 with loving friends and family by her side. Courage and grace during her battle with cancer inspired all who knew and loved her. Gayle was a graduate of Reading Memorial High School (RMHS), owned and operated a Home Care company in Reading for many years, and as a child danced with the Boston Ballet Company.

For most of her life, Gayle was a resident of Reading, MA. She was born June 15, 1951 in Cambridge MA and was the daughter of the late Ruth Munn and Vincent Harrington. She leaves a son, Christopher DeBatto of Yorktown, Virginia, a graduate of RMHS, class of 2002 and an Air Force Veteran, and was the sister of Steven A. Harrington of Cork, Ireland and David Harrington of South Carolina.

Gayle spent many wonderful years vacationing with her family at Ferry Beach in Saco, Maine where she built lifelong friendships. Her love of art, music, and literature inspired her to visit museums and centers of culture throughout her childhood and adult life. She was seldom seen without a book by her side, and the art that she loved hung on her walls. Gayle was guided and strengthened by her strong sense of spirituality. Recently, she resided for several years at Sebago Lake, Maine where a private service will take place, followed by a service and internment at Forest Glen Cemetery in Reading MA in July.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gayle’s name may be made to Palliative Care at Massachusetts General Hospital Palliative, Development Office 165 Cambridge Street, Suite 600 Boston, MA 02114 or the Reading Public Library 64 Middlesex Avenue, Reading, MA 01867.
