Robert D. "Robbie" Upton, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, June 1, 2013 suddenly at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 39 years old.
Robbie was born in Stoneham on May 3, 1974, a son of Melvin F. Upton and Juanita "Sis" (Taylor) Upton. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Ann's Parochial School in Somerville, Don Bosco High School in Boston and graduated from Pope John High School in Everett in 1992. Robbie worked for the City of Boston as a Technician for Boston Water & Sewer for several years.
Robbie is the loving son of Juanita "Sis" (Taylor) Upton and retired Boston Firefighter Melvin F. "Mel" Upton. He is the devoted brother of Cheryl Roy and her husband Tyler of Charlestown, Christine Poore and her husband Rob of Manchester, New Hampshire, Joseph Upton of Charlestown, Kimberly Upton of Abington and Michael Upton of Winthrop. He is the loving uncle to 7 nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Robbie's Funeral on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10:30 A.M. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, June 6, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
