Obituary

WAYLAND: Daniel W. “Dan” Keating, 80, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 following a brief illness.
He was born in Newton on October 9, 1932 the son of the late Daniel W. Keating and Elizabeth (McKenzie) Keating.
Dan is survived by his devoted and beloved wife of 57 years Madeline (Bahosh) Keating of Wayland. Cherished father of Pixie Paradiso and her daughters Lucy and Emma Paradiso all of Acton, Daniel W. Keating, Jr., his wife Maura and their children Samantha, Daniel III and Conor all of Wayland and Gerard Keating, his wife Laura and their sons Matthew and Luke Keating all of Winchester. Brother of Major David Keating, United States Army and his wife Martha of Oaks Island, NC. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Maria Anna Paradiso who died on October 23, 1991. Brother of the late Joan Maurais and John Keating.
Dan has been a resident of Wayland for the past 57 years and spent his formative years in Newton. He served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict as a Staff Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University and had a long and distinguished career as an Electrical Engineer with Dobal Engineering in Watertown before his retirement. He loved sailing and teaching sailing and was a member of the Community Boating on the Charles River at the Esplanade in Boston. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially kayaking and biking. Dan was an avid Red Sox fan and also loved to delight his grandchildren with the many electrical projects he would create and invent for them. He was especially proud of his home in Wayland which he built for his family and the many family events which were hosted at their residence. He spent countless hours as a volunteer with the Perkins School for the Blind, Saint Francis House in Boston and with the Parmenter Health Center in Wayland. His greatest joy in life was the time spent with his wife, children and his cherished grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Visitations will be held on Sunday June 2, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 9:00 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherins Church, 99 Main St (Rte 27), Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Keating family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, his family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Dan’s memory may be sent to The Catholic Schools Foundation, Inc., Inner-City Scholarship Fund, 260 Franklin Street, Suite 630, Boston, MA 02110 or Good Shepherd Parish.
