Obituary

Carol A. (MacArthur) Tautenhan, 70, of Westerly, RI, died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Milford Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of John E. Tautenhan for the past 33 years.

Born in Boston on December 18, 1942, she was the daughter of the late David and Eleanor (Hawkes) MacArthur.

Mrs. Tautenhan was a resident of Westerly, RI since 1988. She grew up in Roslindale and graduated from the Girls Latin High School in Boston. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Latin from Emmanuel College in Boston and taught Latin at Chelsea High School during the 1960’s.

Mrs. Tautenhan later worked at the Division of Employment Security in Boston for over 10 years.

Carol loved gardening and planting and enjoyed going to the beach. She also loved her dogs and cherished spending time with her grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Kenneth R. Tripp and his wife Traci of Seymour, CT and Robert C. Tripp and his partner Kristen Edward of North Scituate, RI, a daughter Jennifer C. Flanagan and her husband Edward of Franklin, seven grandchildren, Zachary, Cody, Benjamin, Beth, Victoria, Courtney and Kelly and a brother Robert D. MacArthur of Roslindale.

She is also survived by two step-sons, Daniel C. Tautenhan of Portland, OR and John E. Taunethan III of Worcester.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, June 5 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin; 131 Main St., Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by her funeral service at 1 p.m.
