Obituary

Yolanda L. “Landie” Gendron, 89, of Woburn, MA, formerly of Derry, NH, died Friday May 31, 2013 at the Wingate of Reading in Reading, MA. She was born July 15, 1923 in Portsmouth, NH and was a daughter of the late Tito and Mary (Fedeli) Tassi. She was raised and educated in Woburn and was a graduate of Woburn High School. Landie had been a resident of Derry for over 35 years prior to relocating to Woburn two years ago.
Mrs. Gendron had been employed for many years with Sylvania in Woburn. She was a communicant and longtime active parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church of Derry. Landie loved to cook and feed everyone. She was very fashionable and enjoyed style and jewelry as well as trips to Foxwoods. She will forever be remembered as a person who loved life and equally loved sharing it with others.
Members of the family include four siblings, Eleanor Geneste of Haverhill, MA, Richard Tassi of Spain, Irma Flibotte and her husband Richard of E. Derry, and Mary Ingoglia and her husband Charles, of Babylon, NY. Her adoptive family, the Doherty and Downers families, as well as many dear nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Gendron, and six siblings, Anna Porras, Madeline Mastroianni and Eva, Angelo, Attillio and Emillio Tassi.
Calling hours were held Monday, June 3rd from 4 to 8pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday at 10am in the St. Thomas Aquinas Center, 10 Moody St. in Derry. The burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery in Londonderry.
