Wilfrid E. Aubin, 83, of Manchester, died May 29, 2013.
He was born in Manchester on January 3, 1930, the son of Joseph and Louisianna (Beaudette) Aubin.
Willie was educated in the local schools and later served in the United States Army.
From 1952 to1959 he was a member of the Manchester Fire Department. Willie had also worked for the United States Post Office retiring in the 1970’s because of health issues with his back. He later served as a member of the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Department and was appointed as chief of security.
He loved golf and had been a member of the Derryfield Country Club for many years. He was a member of the Manchester Parks and Recreation Commission and had served as its chairman. Willie was a member of the Manchester Housing and Redevelopment Authority and served as chairman of the board of trustees of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. Willie was a member of the American Legion Henry J. Sweeny Post #2 and served as its chaplain. He was also a member of the Legion of One Thousand Men of the Precious Blood Monastery. Wilfrid was also a Public Notary and Justice of the Peace.
He loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He often said if he had known grandkids were this much fun, he would have had them first.
Family members include his wife Celia (Gleason) Aubin of Manchester; his children, Gary and his wife Linda of Merrimack, John and his wife Linda of Bedford, Katherine Aubin of Northwood; his grandchildren, Melissa Anne, Stephanie Marie, Andrea Beth, Matthew J, and Caitlain; his great grandchildren, Sadie Mae, C. Walker; a sister, Doris Cienne of Louisiana.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, June 3, 2013 at St. Joseph Cathedral, Manchester, NH.
Family and friends are asked to meet Tuesday at 11 am for committal services at the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
