Wayne “Bubba” Henry King
North Augusta, SC –Mr. Wayne Henry King, fondly known as “Bubba”, 70, of North Augusta died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Medical College of Georgia.
Mr. King was born August 10, 1942 in Augusta, GA. He was the son of the late Austin Raymond King, Sr. and Edythe Veal King. Mr. King attended Riverside Military Academy, graduated from North Augusta High School in 1960 and went on to attend USC and Augusta College. He served in the Army Reserve as a Medic with the 382nd field hospital. He was a member of the Exchange Club of Augusta for 40 years and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Augusta. He was a real estate developer and entrepreneur. One of his many ventures included owning King's Outdoor store.
Wayne “Bubba” King enjoyed living life to the fullest, soaking up everything in nature that God created, his passion was his land. His love for the outdoors was contagious as he loved sharing that knowledge with his loved ones. Bubba was an avid outdoorsman who loved animals, especially his dog, Buster. Mr. King was a charismatic, charming man who never crossed paths with a stranger. His giving spirit, wonderful sense of humor, and storytelling was acknowledged and loved by all who knew him.
Survivors include; his children: Carter Heath King (April), Katherine Mina King May (Whit) and grandchildren Emily Vaughn King and Elizabeth Louise King, all of Augusta, GA; step children, Jason Steve King of Augusta, and Jennifer Leigh Carcamo (Omar) of Tampa, FL; brother: Raymond Austin King, Jr. (Nancy) of Huntsville, AL; sister: Jan King Hudson (Howard) of Augusta; uncle: J. Ralph Veal, Jr. (Joan) of Augusta; several nieces and nephews of Augusta, GA; mother of his children Donna Heath King of Augusta, GA and companion, Brenda Pond of North Augusta, SC.
Services will be private.
