Muriel C. Flattery, 91, of Worcester died Wednesday, May 29th in Notre Dame Long Term Care Center. She leaves a sister, Sister Mary Therese Flattery, SND of Worcester; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and two great great nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers, Henry and Bernard Flattery and a sister, Helen Flattery.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Henry B. and Christina (Basker) Flattery and graduated from the former Ascension High School. Muriel worked in the engineering department at the Norton Company for 34 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel – St. Ann Church. Muriel was an accomplished candle-pin bowler and one time state champ. She enjoyed reading, walking and needlepoint.
Her funeral is Monday, June 3rd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery at a later date. A calling hour will be held from 8:30 until 9:30 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame Retirement Fund, 468 Poquonock Avenue, Windsor, CT 06095.
