Obituary

CHICOPEE – Natalie M. (Medrek) Amero, 88, of the Sandy Hill section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at Mount Saint Vincent in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born at home on Front Street in Chicopee on March 3, 1925, a beloved daughter of the late Jacety and Ludwika (Piwowarska) Medrek. She graduated in 1942 from Chicopee High School and was a lifelong resident of the city. Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a comptometer operator in the office at the former Fisk Tire and Rubber Company in Chicopee. Active in her faith, she was a longtime communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee where she was a member of the Rivier Retreat of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary. Natalie was also a longtime Lector and Eucharistic Minister at Saint Francis Chapel on Bridge Street in downtown Springfield. She was a quiet woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves the love of her life, her husband, Alphonse H. Amero. They were married on February 11, 1950 at the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr in Chicopee and were blessed with over 63 years of happiness together. She also leaves her loving daughter and son-in-law, Janet L. DiPietro and her husband, Philip, of Suffield, CT; her cherished granddaughter, Lori A. Fallon and her husband, Joseph, of Longmeadow; her three cherished great-grandchildren who were the apple of her eye, Mary, Joseph and Tommy Fallon; her dear sister, Cecilia Lisowski and her husband, Edward, of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by nine dear brothers and sisters. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, June 1, 2013, beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 31, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to either the Resident Council Mount Saint Vincent, 35 Holy Family Road, Holyoke, MA 01040 or to Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 15 Chapel Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
