Robert G. Reid, 78

Dateline: Norton, MA

Robert G. Reid, age 78, of Norton passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.
He was the beloved husband of the late Jean S. (Scott) Reid to whom he was wed for 48 years at the time of her death on June 25, 2005.
Born in Attleboro, MA on August 20, 1934, he was a dear son of the late Charles W., Sr. and Elsie M. (Gifford) Reid.
Bob grew up and was educated in Attleboro and was a graduate of Attleboro High School. During the Korean Conflict, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged from the service with the rank of Seaman.
A resident of Norton for over 55 years, Mr. Reid had been employed for 45 years at the former Texas Instruments in Attleboro. He retired as a Forman in the maintenance department.
One of Bob’s favorite activities was bowling in Taunton and Attleboro. He also enjoyed gardening, but most of all, he cherished the times spent with family and being part of his nieces and nephews lives while growing up and playing miniature golf with them.
He was the devoted brother of the late Charles W. “Chuck” Reid, Jr. and Allen R. Reid. He is survived by his loving nieces and nephews, Steven F. Scott of Marshfield, Gary A. Scott of Hollywood, Florida, Lori A. Scott-Millett of Leicaster, Barry A. Reid of Norton, Jennifer Reid of Pawtucket, RI and Beth Ann Sarafian of Bridgewater, as well as 8 grand nieces and nephews.
His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, May 31st at 11:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial with military honors will follow in the Norton Center Cemetery in Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 30th from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home .
In lieu of flowers, Robert’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701
