Obituary

SALEM- John S. Kielbasa, 81, husband of Georgette L. (Pelletier) Kielbasa, of Palm Coast, Florida, formerly of Salem, died Friday evening, August 13, 2004 following a brief illness, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, William J. and Helen E. Kielbasa in Peabody.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Veronica (Pinkus) Kielbasa. he was a resident of Salem for most of his life and lived in the Salem area until moving to florida in 1989.

Prior to his retirement in the late 1980's, he was employed by the Boston Local, Carpenters Union, where he work for many years. Previously, he was self employed on the North Shore area and southern New Hampshire as a carpenter/contractor for Mainline Homes of Pennsylvania. Before working in the construction industry, he worked as a mechanic for 20 years at the former Lincoln Mercury dealership, then located in Salem.

An avid fisherman, he was an active member of the Plum Island Surfcasters.

Besides his wife of 56 years, and his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Helen, he is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas J. and Karen M. Kielbasa of Salem, Donald W. Kielbasa of Barrington, New Hampshire, five grandchildren, Thomas J. Kielbasa of Salem, Eric Kielbasa Victorine of Danvers, Michael J. Kielbasa, Christopher J. Kielbasa, both of Peabody, Jennifer Slack and husband Jim of Waynesville, Missouri, two great grandchildren, Tyler Slack of Waynesville, Missouri, Devonne Moore of Danvers, three sisters, Florence Patriarca of Johnston, Rhode Island, Theresa Zamarchi of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Rose Kotkowski of Saugus, a sister-in-law, Alice Kielbasa of Beverly and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Albin “Bennick” Kielbasa, Charles “Kazie” Kielbasa, Frank Kielbasa, William “Boley” Kielbasa, Sylvester "Sully" Kielbasa, Bernice “Betty” Wladkowski, Louise Blagdon and Stella Cwalina.

His funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at 10:30 am at the Blake Memorial Chapel at Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday, 4 to 8 pm at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Burial is in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
