Karlene McDearmid Jordan, 85, of Macon, Georgia, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Goodwill Health Care and Rehab in Macon.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Robert McDearmid officiating.
Mrs. Jordan was born July 5, 1927, in Wilcox County, Georgia, to the late Mault T. and Willie Mae Kirkland McDearmid. She attended Fitzgerald High School. She had lived in the Macon area since 1968, where she was a business owner of a grocery/convenience store and also an insurance processor. Her family was her life where she enjoyed sharing and caring for them. She was an avid reader. Along with being an animal rights supporter, she greatly admired her daughter’s horses. She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by a son: John W. (Marian) Jordan, Jr. of Cumming, Georgia; a daughter: Margaret Jordan Brown of Macon, Georgia and two grandchildren: Jennifer Jordan (Robert) Hammer of Washington, D.C. and John W. (Erin) Jordan, III of Jefferson, Georgia; two great-grandchildren: Madeline Hammer and Michael Hammer, and four nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: John William Jordan, Sr.; a brother: R. L. McDearmid and a sister: Lela Irene Barr.
