WASHINGTON, NH - Alice J. (Brine) Hannus, age 87, died Tuesday May 21, 2013 at the Candia home of her daughter. She was the beloved wife of Harold P. Hannus who died in 2000.
She was born in Cambridge, September 10, 1925, one of eight children of Charles and Margaret (Gillis) Brine, raised in Woburn and graduated from Woburn High School. After her marriage, she moved to Tewksbury to raise her family. She retired to Washington, NH 29 years ago.
As a resident of Tewksbury, she was an employee of the Andover Internal Revenue Service Center, and a communicant of St. William’s Church. Since moving to NH, she was a member and faithful card player at the American Legion in Hillsboro, NH, and a golf member at the Angus Lee Golf Course in Hillsboro, and Washington snow riders snowmobile club.
Alice is survived by four children, John “Jack” Hannus of Nashua NH, Donald Hannus and his wife Marie (Ventura) of Tewksbury MA, Jane Babineau and her husband Edgar of Candia NH, Dianne O’Keefe and her husband Rob of Merrimac, MA; eight grandchildren, Eric Hannus of Chelmsford, MA, Justin Hannus of Lowell MA, Carolyn Carpenter of NY, Christine Spellman of Tewksbury, Corinne Weaver of Concord, NH, Steve Lipps of PA, Meghan O’Keefe of Boston, Devin O’Keefe, USAF, currently serving in TX; seven great grandchildren; Rayana, Tucker, Mikayla, Forrest, and Charles, Stevie, Abigale, and Alivia. A sister Mary O’Connor of Woburn; a brother, Joseph Brine of Woburn; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Ruth Coleman, Charles Brine Jr., Margaret Powers, Claire Ross and Robert Brine.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, May 24, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to Visiting Nurse Association of Manchester & Southern New Hampshire, INC. will be appreciated.
