Obituary

Mrs. Concetta Franciosa, 79, of Medford died Monday in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. She is the wife of the late Americo Franciosa.
Mrs. Franciosa was born in Sulmona, Abruzzi Italy, daughter of the late Ascenzo and Bruna DiCenso. She emigrated from Italy to the United States in 1957 settling in Boston's North End. She lived there until moving to Medford in 1965 and has remained a resident of the city ever since.
Mrs. Franciosa was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed gardening in which she often grew her own vegetables. She will be remembered as a music lover and her house always had an open door. She was an animal lover and always had a cat. To make things easy, they were always named "Mimi" She was known to enjoy a game of chance and took occasional trips to Foxwoods. In addition to her other talents, she was an accomplished seamstress. Affectionately known in the nursing home as "Bella" it was said her smile could brighten any room. Nothing gave her more satisfaction than spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters: Anna Franciosa of Medford and her companion Tom Brancaleone of Gloucester, Connie Iudiciani and her husband Frank Sr. of Saugus. Loving grandmother of Frank Jr.and Nicholas Iudiciani. Dear sister of the Late Emma DiCenso and Maria Ricci. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday from 4 through 8 p.m. at the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, Saturday at 9:00 am.
Services will conclude with entombment in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden. Those who prefer may make contributions in Concetta's name to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210
