Rita J. Remy, 89, formerly of St. Paul St., died Sunday May 5, 2013 at the Friendly Home in Woonsocket where she resided for the past several years.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Stanislaus and Azama (Charron) Remi. She was a lifelong city resident.
Rita was a graduate of St. Claire High School and went on the graduate from the Joan Potvin hairdressing school in Pawtucket.
In her earlier years Rita worked at McCarthy’s Department Store and then was an independent hairdresser operating her own salon for many years.
Rita was a communicant of St. Theresa’s parish in Blackstone and was an ardent Red Sox and Patriots fan.
She was the sister of the late Henri, Leo and Aldo Remy, Marie-Rose Jarret, Antoinette Frappier, Irene Bourgault and Cecile Neveu. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Theresa’s Church, Rathbun St., Blackstone. Burial will follow at a later date in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers memorial, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN. 38105.
