Obituary

Holden: Faramarz "Fred" Rassekh, 66, died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at UMASS University Medical Center. He leaves his loving wife of 37 years, Nancy (Nault) Rassekh and his beloved daughter, Rachel Rassekh of Holden. He also leaves his mother, Khanomagha Rasekh of Worcester, his brothers Jamshid and his wife Jila Rasekh of Worcester, Farhad and his wife Shoreh Rassekh of West Hartford, CT, a sister Farideh Jackson of Auckland, New Zealand, as well as several nieces and nephews. He also leaves many devoted friends who were loved during his lifetime and were especially supportive throughout his illness.

Faramarz was born on July 21, 1946 in Teheran, Iran, the son of the late Mehdi and Khanomagha Rasekh. He came to the United States as a student in 1969, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Central New England College of Technology in Worcester in 1974. He was a long-time local businessman as the owner and operator of Blue Star Cleaners and Holden Cleaners, where he was known as "Fred" by his many valued customers.

Faramarz was a man of varied and eclectic interests, including a love of reading, music, and poetry. He also enjoyed anything to do with being outdoors in nature, such as beach, camping, or fishing trips. He was an avid Red Sox fan and looked forward to opening day each baseball season. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, and son. Faramarz's greatest legacy is his commitment to his family, his tireless work ethic, and his fun-loving personality. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 9:30 -11:00 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester.
