Obituary

Brian P. Griffiths, a 2 year resident of Newburyport and formerly of Charlestown and East Boston, entered into eternal life on Friday, May 17, 2013 at The Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 53 years old.

Brian was born in Everett on August 27, 1959, a son of the late Thomas Griffiths and Frances (Fitzgibbons) Griffiths. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1977. Brian began working in the banking business with Shawmut Bank and was forced to retire because of his illness while working for Bank of America as a Analyst after 35 years in the banking business. Brian enjoyed reading and swimming, listening to all kinds of music and was a passionate Boston sports fan especially during the Bobby Orr era with the Boston Bruins.

Brian is the devoted and loving husband of Julia Passanisi. He is the beloved father of Kelli-Ann Mullen and her husband Christopher of Newton, Jillian Griffiths of West Roxbury, Brian Griffiths of West Roxbury and Joseph Passanisi and his wife Megan of Medford. He is the loving Papa Griff to Hadley, Ella, Jackson, Kennedy and McKenzie. He is the beloved brother of Suzanne Fitzgibbons and her husband William of Vermont, Dennis Griffiths and his wife Marie of Woburn, Daniel Griffiths and his wife Nina of Chelsea and the late Kevin Griffiths and his surviving wife Jean Tenander of Ashby. He is the beloved son-in-law of Salvatrice Passanisi of East Boston. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Brian's Funeral Mass on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 11 A.M. in the Most Holy Redeemer Church, 72 Maverick St. East Boston. Entombment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Everett. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. in The Carr funeral home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown.
