Josephine “Josie” Freddura, 83, of Malden, passed away at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center in Medford on May 17th. She was the daughter of the late Sebastiano and Filomena (Motta) Freddura.
Ms. Freddura was a waitress for many years at her family’s restaurant, the Daily Catch in the North End, where she enjoyed her customers and made many friends. Her family remembers her as never saying an unkind word about anyone.
In her spare time, Josie enjoyed gardening flowers, playing poker and traveling. She especially loved her visits to Australia to visit her grandchildren.
Josie was the loving mother of Denise A. Castucci of Melrose and the late Richard J. Castucci Jr. She was also the dear sister of Constance Palmieri of Lynfield, Anne Sclafani of Peabody and Paul Freddura of Cambridge and is also survived by her loving grandchildren Chris, Nick and Gino of Melrose, Alexandra, Rebekah, Rachael and Adam of Sydney, Australia. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held in the Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main St., Malden on Tues. May 21st at 10AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Monday from 4-8PM. Interment private .
