Irene A. Tenney, 95 of Atkinson, NH, died Tuesday, August 3, 2004 in the Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont. Mrs. Tenney was born in Coopersville, NY on January 6, 1909, a daughter of the late Arthur and Matilda (Hedin) Murray. She was a resident of Atkinson for 25 years, formerly living in Hampstead, NH and Wakefield, MA. She was a member of the Atkinson Congregational Church and a member of the Prayer Circle in Atkinson. She was an avid artist who enjoyed painting, and had painted over 500 paintings in her lifetime. She was also an avid gardener and had won awards for her gardens. Mrs. Tenney was a wonderful cook. In her thirties, she enjoyed acting in the local theater group.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly J. Baldwin and her husband George of Hampstead, Barbara G. Rockwell and her husband Richard of Clermont, FL, three grandchildren, Teri L. Skinner of Hudson, Glen R. Brann of Sandown, Sheri L. Rockwell of Derry, two great-grandchildren, Glen J. Brann and Dillion J. Brann, both of Sandown, one nephew, Stuart Turner and his wife Martha of Center Sandwich, NH. She was predeceased by her husband Harold A. Tenney who died in 1978.
There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 5th at 10:00am in the Atkinson Congregational Church, 101 Main St., Atkinson. The burial will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery in Hampstead. Memorial contributions may be made to the Atkinson Police Dept., Senior Program, PO Box 321, Atkinson, NH 03811.
