Johnny Ray Taylor, 74, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Crossview Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Parmer and the Rev. Clayton Dowd officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Taylor was born October 1, 1938 in Dodge County, Georgia to the late Rev. John C. and Estelle Spires Taylor. He lived in the community most of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. A former deliveryman for Colonial Bread Company, Mr. Taylor was retired insurance salesman for Liberty National Life and American General Life. He owned and operated a computer repair business also. He was a member of Crossview Baptist Church and the Adult IV Sunday school class.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Betty S. Taylor of Fitzgerald; children and their spouses: Vickie & Mark Martin of Ocilla, Kenneth & Tersia Taylor and Mark & Mandy Taylor, all of Fitzgerald; nine grandchildren: Jennifer, TJ, Kayla, Zach, Holly, Lindsey, Allie, John, and Adam; five great-grandchildren: Austin, Emmie, Maddie, Payton and Shane; two brothers: Curtis Taylor of Maryville, Tennessee and William Taylor of Fairfield, California; a sister: Martha Giordano of Knoxville, Tennessee as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Myrtice Bussell, Linda Faye Taylor, and Allene Mullis and three brothers: John C. Taylor, Jr., Harvey Taylor, and J.T. Taylor.
