DUDLEY – Barbara H. (Mayotte) Iwanski, 83, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 in her home with her family at her side. Her husband of 51 years, Anthony J. Iwanski, died in 2002.
She leaves 2 sons, Francis J. Iwanski and his wife Cecelia, and David L. Iwanski and his wife Lisa; a daughter, Mary C. Brown, all of Dudley; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Edmund Mayotte.
She was born in Webster, the daughter of Euclid and Nellie (Laskowski) Mayotte, and lived in Webster and Dudley all her life. She graduated from Bartlett High School.
She began her working career as an operator for New England Telephone in her teenage years. She then worked in the accounting department of Bates Shoe in Webster. She was a warehouse clerk at Filene’s Basement in Auburn before she retired. After retiring, she was a volunteer at Catholic Charities in Southbridge until 2011.
She was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica in Webster.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 18, at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster (please meet at the church). Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, May 17, in the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster. Donations in her name may be made to Central Mass Hospice 191 Pakachoag St, Auburn, MA 01501.
