Obituary

Vernon Vallandingham Record, 92, of Louisville passed away May 7, 2013 at the Masonic Home.
He was a native of Salvisa, (Mercer Co.) Ky and was the son of the late Will and Ell Trisler Record. Vernon was a retired mortician, having served in the funeral profession since August 1946 and still retaining his current licenses at his time of death. He attended Georgetown College where he met his wife, Marjorie Rankin of Cynthiana, KY. They were married July 18,1946.He was a Life member of American Legion Post #34, a Navy veteran of W.W. II, a masonic member of Anderson Lodge #90, Lawrenceburg and a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.
Vernon was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Marjorie and his only sister, Edna Record Belew.
He is survived by his brother Billy Record (Verna) of Georgetown, Texas, 4 nieces, Cathy McGraw (Bob), of Rome , Ga., Belle Sarnoff (josh), of Washington, D.C., Susan Young (Buddy) of Canyon, Texas and Vickie Record of Austin, Texas, one nephew, Wendell Belew, Jr.(Joy) of Washington, D.C., 4 great nieces and 3 great nephews.
Also surviving Vernon, is his family of friends, Michael, Tracy, Samantha and John Michael Brown and three special cousins, Ann Paxton Caldwell of Lexington, Sally Kinney (Hall) of Cynthiana and Wilma Robinson (Bill) of Burgin, Ky.
There will be no service or visitation in Louisville, Graveside and committal service will be Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 12 Noon in Battle Grove Cemetery in Cynthiana, KY and be laid to rest by his love one and best friend, “Marnie”.
Arrangements are handled by Vernon’s personal friend Philip Simpson of the Owen Funeral Home 9318 Taylorsville Road and the eulogy, scripture and prayers will be delivered by David Hartley, a long time mortuary friend of the Ratterman’s Funeral Home, Bardstown Road.
