Alice K.V. (Wheatley) Alfonso, 98, of Dartmouth died Friday May 10, 2013 at the Oaks Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Eugene Alfonso.
Born in Bermuda, the daughter of the late Alfred and Marie (Johnstone) Wheatley, she lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
Mrs. Alfonso was formerly employed by the Cornell-Dubilier Electronics Corporation. She later worked in the kitchen at the Bristol Nursing Home.
Survivors include three children, Joan M. Walker and her husband John, and David Alfonso and his wife Sharlene, all of Dartmouth, and Bernard E. Alfonso and his wife Gail of California; a sister, Barbara Woollard of England; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was the grandmother of the late Scott Alfonso and Irene LaPlante, and sister of the late Alfred Wheatley, Robert Wheatley, Florence Baptiste, Helena Marshall, Leola Pedro, and Betty Marshall.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
