Joe M. Richardson, 65, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, May 10, 2013, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, May 12, 2013, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow at 5 PM at Waters Cemetery, Pierce County with his brother-in-law, Jerry Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Richardson was born September 6, 1947 in Waycross, Georgia, the only child of the late Joseph Lawton Richardson and Bernice King Richardson Smith. He was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a former employee of the mill in Hazlehurst and owned and operated a sheetrock construction business. He was retired department manager for Shaw Industries with 22 years of service. A member of Arbor Baptist Church, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law: Pam & Randy Mack of Blackshear and Kim & David Hutchinson of Fitzgerald; five grandchildren: Michelle Mack, Lynn Mack, Michael Mack, Jayson Hutchinson, and Hope Hutchinson; and one great-grandchild: Michael James Mack. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Nora S. Richardson; and his step-father: A.C. Smith.
