Ralph F. Roberge, 95

Dateline: Sandwich, MA

Ralph F. Roberge, age 95, of the Forestdale section of Sandwich, formerly South Attleboro and Mansfield passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
He was the beloved husband of the late Lina J. (Bouchard) Roberge, to whom he was wed for over 65 years at the time of her death on October 1, 2011.
Born in Mansfield, MA on February 4, 1918, he was a dear son of the late Isaac J. and Alice E. (Nolette) Roberge. He grew up and was educated in Mansfield.
Ralph proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during both WWII and the Korean Conflict, and was a former member of the 25th Infantry of the Massachusetts State Guard. He was honorably discharged from duty with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His veterans affiliations included being a member of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association of Rhode Island.
Prior to retiring in 1982, Mr. Roberge had worked for over 30 years in research and development at the Brown & Sharpe Co. in Providence. He had formerly been employed at the Valentine Tool & Stamp Co. in Norton and at the former S.W. Card Co. in Mansfield.
Active with the Knights of Columbus, Ralph was a charter member and 4th Degree Past Grand Knight of the South Attleboro Knights of Columbus Council 5876. He also served as a Past Faithful Navigator and a 4th Degree member of the Edward Douglass White Council 398 in Attleboro and was holder of the Legion of Merit.
A resident of Sandwich for the past 28 years, he had formerly made his home in South Attleboro for over 35 years. Ralph was an avid woodworker and enjoyed working with machinery. His other hobbies included traveling by way of recreation vehicle and he was a member of the Good Sam Club.
He is survived by his devoted daughters, Elaine M. Cook and her husband Kenneth of North Kingstown, RI and Linda A. Schwarzenberg and her husband Matthew of Harrisville, RI. He was the dear brother of Ruth V. MacMaster of Mansfield and the late Raymond W. Roberge. He is also survived by his loving three grandchildren, 1 great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, May 16th at 9:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 15th from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
