Obituary

Viola Kubik, 87, of Wrentham, Massachusetts passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 9, 2013 at the Maples Rehab Facility. She was the wife of the late Peter S. Kubik, to whom she had been married for 55 years prior to his death in 2002.

Born on January 24, 1926 in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Edward and Elsie Hauser, Viola was raised in Newark but lived in South Plainfield, New Jersey for 30 years where she raised her family. She retired to the Cape in 1986 with her husband and lived in Chatham, Massachusetts for 16 years. She left the Cape in 2002 and lived in Franklin near her daughter until residing at the Maples.

Prior to retirement, she worked in the Billing Department of the Rutgers University Medical School in New Jersey.

Viola was an excellent seamstress. She and her husband enjoyed the theater, golfing and traveling in the U.S. particularly up and down the eastern seaboard, although they did get to Hawaii, Alaska and Australia. She fell in love with the Cape beaches over 40+ years ago and happily retired there. She was a great “character” with a wry sense of humor who will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children, Christine Dolan and husband Charles of Franklin, Massachusetts, and Stephen Kubik and wife Sharon of Hillsborough, New Jersey.

She is also survived by four grandchildren, Alex and Kathleen Dolan, and Bryan and David Kubik.

She was the sister of the late Austin Hauser and cousin to Rosemary Haluska.

The funeral and burial will be a private event for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
Arrangements are under the care of the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
