Mr. George V. Upton, III, a resident of Andover, formerly of Wenham and Boxford and beloved husband of Gloria (Lesburt) Upton, died at the Lawrence General Hospital on Friday morning, April 26, 2013. He was 85 years old.
Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, on January 11, 1928, he was the beloved son of the late George V., Jr. and Rachael (Ware) Upton. George was a WWII Army veteran. He worked as a Project Manager for the United Shoe in Beverly for many years and had a long career in manufacturing. Mr. Upton served the town of Boxford and Wenham on many of their boards. In his spare time, Mr. Upton enjoyed art and painting.
Besides his beloved wife, Gloria, he will be missed by his loving children; Mark H. Upton of Oxham, Linda J. McCarthy of Derry, New Hampshire, Christine M. MacNeill of Peabody and Scott R. Gnong Port Richie, Florida, grandchildren; Jamie, Leigha, Sam, Dan, Scott, JR. and Britney and two great-grandchildren; Monica and Maggie. He was also the devoted brother of the late Judith Upton.
His funeral service will be celebrated in the First Parish Congregational Church, 47 East Derry Road, Derry, New Hampshire, on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 11 AM.
