Shirley W. Gilcreast, 86, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Elliot Hospital, Manchester surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 12, 1927 in Nashua, NH a daughter of the late Neil and Fannie (Robie) Watts. Mrs. Gilcreast was a resident of Villa Crest Nursing Home for two years, formerly living in Derry, Sandown and many years in Londonderry. She was the organist at Londonderry Presbyterian Church for over 47 years. She enjoyed playing Cribbage and Yahtzee, as well as reading and quilting. Mrs. Gilcreast loved her family and spending time with them. She was a very kind, compassionate, and loving woman who always put others needs before her own.
She is survived by three sons, John Gilcreast and his wife, Doris, of Derry, Kevin Gilcreast and his wife, Linda, of Derry, and David Gilcreast and his wife, Stacey, of Sandown, two daughters, Judy Hatch and her husband, David, of Derry and Lynn Bedard and her husband, Gerard, of Methuen, MA, ten grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one sister, Phyllis Holton of Hudson, NH.
A calling hour was held on Friday May 10th from 2:00 – 3:00pm at the Londonderry Presbyterian Church, 126 Pillsbury Rd., Londonderry with funeral services that began at 3:00pm in the Church. The burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery, Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s memory to the Villa Crest Nursing Home, 1276 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH 03104. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is handling the arrangements. The family of Mrs. Gilcreast would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Villa Crest Nursing Home for the loving care that was given to her during her time with them.
