WAYLAND: Frances Frobisher Whyland Egan, October 4, 1928 – May 2, 2013, passed away peacefully surrounded by her seven children, niece Terry Caccavalle, daughter-in-law Jean Egan and son-in-law William MacDonald after a short illness.
Frances was born and raised in Kearny, NJ and resided in Wayland from 2002 to 2011, Naples, FL from 1983 to 2002 and East Aurora, NY from 1962 to 1983.
Frances was married to the late Harold E. Egan, Jr. for 51 years from Sept. 22, 1951 to October 24, 2002. She is survived by her seven loving children, two daughters Jeanne MacDonald of Wayland and Jennifer Egan of Shanghai, China and five sons Harold of Buffalo, NY, Stephen of Abington, MD, Jack of Naples, FL, David of Chadds Ford, PA and Brian of Saratoga Springs, NY. She is also survived by her sister Marilyn Johnson of Kalamazoo, MI and brother William Whyland of Marcellus, NY. She is predeceased by her son Phillip and sister D. Jane Whyland of Levonia, NY. Frances also had fifteen grandchildren: Brian, Dan, Colleen, Megan, Lindsey, Conor, Dominique, Morgan, Colin, Michael, Serena, Patrick, Molly Owen and Matea. She was expecting her first great-grandchild in June.
Frances attended Syracuse University from 1946 to 1950. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved Hal, children and grandchildren. She spent many wonderful summers at both her parent’s home on Conesus Lake, NY and her family summer home on Canada Lake, NY. Besides homemaking she enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, music, knitting, scrabble, bingo and football games with Hal. During her twilight years she lived in Wayland with her daughter Jeanne, son-in-law Bill, Megan and Lindsey. She spent the last two years of her life at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham. A Memorial Service honoring Frances is planned for July 6, 2013 in Saratoga Springs, NY.
